Rebeccas Class Position shots

James Franco is one of my favorite is an actor, director, screenwriter, producer, teacher, author and poet. He has been part of many movies and productions. As i researched for some of his movies I came across a very interesting movie, As I lay dying. This movie was based after  the novel written by William Faulkner in 1939 with the same name.

In this movie Franco decided to write a screenplay of the novel with a fellow student, Matt Rager. The novel As I Lay Dying was described as a story impossible to be transformed into a film due to the multi-narrative voices within it. Franco saw this as a challenge and was able to depict the many voices, through choices of styling through camera edits. Faulkner told this story in a chorus of voices: 15 narrators in the 59 chapters. To locate an equivalent for the novel’s polyphonal scheme. Franco in relation to this decision employs the use of narrative expressed through dialogue and voice overs. James Franco also incorporates different elements such as split screen which is effective in a sense which, allowing the viewers to connect to the isolation each character experiences since they are connected by blood, duty, and desire. The filming took place in Mississippi from August 21, 2012 to October 5, 2012.

This was new to me as a never saw a movie with so much split screen before.  also the characters costumes and places were very interesting. I would say it is a movie worth to be seen.
